The Corporation of the Village of Westport is inviting Request for Proposal submissions for the completion of an assimilative capacity study concerning surface wastewater discharge from the Westport wastewater treatment system.
The Village of Westport’s Wastewater Treatment System (WWTS) lacks capacity for future community growth and additional WWTS capacity is needed to service projected future wastewater flows. At this time, alternative solutions are being reviewed as part of a Schedule “C” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the expansion of the Village of Westport’s WWTS. One of the potential alternatives being considered is a new point source discharge to a surface water body. This could include several potential receivers.
The Village is undertaking this Request for Proposal to hire a qualified engineering firm to complete an assimilative capacity study to consider options for the best receiving body, an assimilative capacity study on the preferred discharge body, determine acceptable effluent limits, and mixing modelling for a preliminary discharge/diffuser recommendation.
